missiology is ecclesiology

I recently had my mind changed by David Fitch. Frost and Hirsch argue for christology -> missiology -> ecclesiology, (I blogged it here), and while I agree with the point they’re making, that church must be shaped by mission, I also agree with Fitch, that mission must be shaped by church. It’s the old chicken and egg argument. So, along with Fitch I will now say that missiology is ecclesiology, that they must shape each other, and that they must both be built directly on christology. Kind of hints at making something like, oh, say, discipleship your organizing function. More on that later.
